I have a fairly long and low back swing
which I am quite happy with. My problem is when I start to come down with
my swing I lose control and end up hitting fat shots. I feel like I am
sweeping the club along the ground and forcing the club through to the
finish. HELP!!! |

"Aloha Dwaine: Hitting behind
is a fairly simple fix. When you take your back swing your
weight transfers to your right side. If you swing your arms
first the bottom of the swing arc is way behind the ball so you
hit the ground first. To start the forward swing you need let
the club drop and drive your body thru. This changes the bottom
of the swing arc to be forward of the ball. This should also
give you more power." - Mark

"Try to relax your arms and just let them fall. See
how fast you can let them fly rather than how hard you can push
them through." - Warren

"Dwaine: Glad you are happy with the long
and low back swing. I am not. Sounds like you are taking your
hands out of their relation of sameness with your body. This being
the case, you must recover and come over the top with a move too
vertical and throw away your bent trailing wrist resulting in a
lower hands level than you started with. I suggest you tee up a
few balls from aside a chipping green take a wedge in you trailing
hand only and have some fun making a motion much like a throwing
one that keeps that trailing wrist bent through the ball. You will
not only find a more athletic takeaway, but
the answer to your vertical attack if you follow this advise with
wisdom. Best regards."
