From J Yong, golfer:
Are there any drills that I can practice at home that encourages the full finish without me being conscious of it?

"You cannot finish the golf swing unless you release your left arm, i.e. a relaxed left arm will fold automatically which produces a complete follow-through and prevents a slice. Squeezing the left hand of tightening the left arm prevent the club from truly swinging. An uninterrupted swing will be square at the apex (impact)." - John DeSantis, Teaching Professional

"You have too many thoughts going through your head to be able to hit a golf ball!  Take one of your headcovers and place it one clubhead length  across from your ball. This will give you automatic feedback if you come over the top." - Andrea Drake, Teaching Professional
Illinois
"Practice going from your set up just to the finish with no back swing. Once you get to your finish hold it like a stone statue for two seconds paying attention to perfect balance. Repeat this drill 50 times a day for one week and you will never have to think of your finish again."

"Sounds like you know what you are supposed to be doing. Are you really? Have someone take a video of your swing or take a lesson to find out if you are really swinging properly. In most cases when someone has trouble finishing the golf swing it is more mental than physical. What do you think about before and during your swing? If your thought is about hitting the ball, you have a problem. Just like other sports, your thoughts must be about the target not about contact. This does take practice, try to train your mind to picture your target in your mind as you address the ball. Keep this in mind throughout your swing. Don't let your thoughts drift back to hitting the ball. You will hit the ball! This should allow you to accelerate thought impact to the finish."

"Practice swing towards a storm window and study your finish position at the end of your swing. Hold that position for 5 seconds. Repeat that drill every day for a month. A swing without a follow through is about as much good as a sentence without a period. Good luck."

"Hello  J  ,  Let  the  club  do  the  work  !! My  gut  reaction  to  your  question  is  you  are  guiding  your  swing into the  desired  positions.  You  want  to  swing  it  into  those positions .  THE  club  is  engineered  to  do  its  job.! Your  are  holding  onto  the  grip  too tightly  as  you  guide  it  .THEREFORE  loosing  club head  speed and inhibiting  the  release ,clubface  open  .Drills  # 1 go  to open  area no one  within  30 yards  of  you  or  they  all are  alert  .... . Take  your  golf  swing  and  let  go  of  the  club  letting it  fly  down  the  fairway  .Do this several  times  feeling  the  grip  pressure as  light  as  can  be  until  you  finally  let  go .  Now  immediately go  to  a  ball teed  up  ....And  swing  the  club  with  same  grip  pressure  and  let  the  club  go  ........  When  you  play  and  practice  hold onto  the  club with   just  a tiny  bit  more pressure .      Golf  is  not  an  easy  game  but  it  is  a  game  of ease." - Doug  Weaver, Teaching Professional

"J: You are trying too hard to create a perfect ball flight. By trying too hard, you could be creating excessive grip pressure that can also lead to a late release of the club to the ball. Tension can also limit the finish. Make sure that in an effort to hit the ball square, you are not creating too much tension in the hands. You should consider trying less to hit a straight shot and understand that a slight falling fade might be a great shot to play with. If you swing from the outside to inside when trying to correct your swing, I must assume that the same club path with less pronounced error is your natural swing path.  If you are desire a draw, you'll have to re-route your natural swing to inside-out. There are many drills to do this. One of the ones I find more successful is to place a ball underneath an old shaft or flexible stick that is placed at a 45 degree angle in the ground. Try to hit the ball by swinging underneath the stick. Let me know if I can help you further." - John Hughes, Teaching Professional
