Two questions: I am 6 2" and I feel
a bit arched over the ball. Is there a chance I should add a half inch or
so to my irons? Also, I am a 5 handicap and I want to go to a golf school
that will grove a more consistent swing (I know the short game is way
important here as well). Do you know of a school that teaches serious
golfers? My biggest fear is going to one of these schools, hitting a few 7
irons sweet and having an instructor tell me to go play because I'm fine.
I really would like to break it all down. You guys are great. Thanks! |

"Here is a test to check your ideal
posture at address. While standing erect with your feet shoulder
width apart, take a golf club and place it on your back. It should
touch 3 points, the tailbone, the
middle of the back and the back of your head. Slightly flex your
knees and bend forward keeping these 3 areas touching the club.
Bring the club in front of you to finish your stance, while
maintaining the spine angle. Ideally, your spine should be at a 90
degree angle to your club. Do this in front of a mirror or have
someone stand behind you (preferably a pga/lpga professional)!
Make sure your posture is correct before making any adjustments to
your clubs. Go to www.shawguides.com and click on golf schools and
camps. This site has a comprehensive list of schools."

"Get a club fitting from a certified Henry-Griffitts
professional fitter. I'm 6'2" also and I play 3" over
standard length. That doesn't mean that you need an extra 3",
but the probability is that your clubs are too short. Many golf
club salespeople will tell you that 3" more is too long but
with an H-G fitter you can hit a demo club and make the decision
for yourself and not have it based on the salesperson's
inventory." - David

"Curtis, My school - the Phil Ritson - Mel Sole
Golf School is ranked by GOLF Magazine in the Top 25 Schools in
America, and I can assure you we do not get good golfers to hit a
7 iron and then tell them to go and play! We work with everyone
from rank beginners to tour players and can assure you
of a quality experience. Check out our website at http://www.ritson-sole.com.

"Curtis: I teach at the Ben Sutton Golf School and feel
you would have a great learning experience at our school. We have
a very unique facility in that, you have Real Greens (20) to use
as targets and to putt on, and we work all aspects of the game,
concentrating on that particular students needs and desires. We
have the V1 Swing Analysis system to help break down and show your
swing in detail, and we also have the Callaway Club Fitting System
to show you the correct clubs dimensions that you seem concerned
with. Feel free to contact us at 1-800-225-6923 for a brochure and
request me as your instructor, I would be glad to help you
out." - Ed
