From Arlys, golfer:
First off, I am a 65 year-old lady and have been using a BIGGEST big Bertha driver 11 degree loft for many years. I've been fairly satisfied with it, but this year, I thought I would try a 360 series Taylor Made driver, 12 degrees loft with a ladies bubble shaft. Not only am I losing distance, but I also seem to be hitting every drive to the left. Big time! Would love some good advice. Thanks!

"Good advice: come see me for a golf lesson consultation. I do have the answers you are looking for.
As for now, stick with the brand that you are used to. Try a 10 degree Biggest Big Bertha."

"The 360 series tend to be hooked (when the club is soled, the face is in a pull position). The bubble shaft could be adding to the problem. If you still have the Bertha, take it to a club repairman and have him switch the shafts. This should help some but you may have to adjust where you start your tee shots." - John Brott, Teaching Professional

"Go back to your old club!" - Sean Gorgone, Teaching Professional

"Arlys, go back to the Biggest Big Bertha if you still have it." - BJ Miller, Teaching Professional

"Congratulations! Don't stop! Either playing, or using your BBB 12 degree driver. Like a good old man-friend, rekindle that relationship with your BBB and do not waste any more time in doing so! You better not have traded it for the TM 360! I bet you did!"

"It may be that the shaft could be to stiff for you. In research when a shaft is to stiff then the player will have the tendency to swing harder thus coming over top of the ball and hitting it left. The loss of distance is probably from the shaft not flexing at the right point in the swing. I would take the two clubs and have the frequency checked on them. I think you might find the Bertha is a little softer and that is why you hit it better." - Ben Hynson, Teaching Professional

"Arlys: Where is that old driver? Put it back in the bag and trade the other club in on one that you can hit. Go find someone in your area that has demo clubs within a fitting system that will allow you to try different shaft and club combinations that will fit you. Until then, make sure you have a strong partner for your weekly ladies' day events." - John Hughes, Teaching Professional

"Arlys: What shaft is in the Biggest Big Bertha? Sounds like the Taylor Made may have a much more flexible shaft." - Dave Baron, Teaching Professional
