Mike Calbot: Articulate, Logical and Fun Mike Calbot began his career as a professional golfer in the late 60’s, touring Asia and playing some events in Europe and America. In 1970, he broke his back, and his tournament career was over. This did not, however, break his spirit. For
well
over
30
years,
Calbot
has
been
“helping
people
help
themselves”
on
the
lesson
tee
in
the
Southwest
Florida
area.
“It
was
a
natural
for
me,”
says
Calbot,
whose
interest
in
sports
spills
over
into
racquetball,
kickboxing,
billiards,
target
shooting
and
clays.
“I
enjoy
working
with
people,
and
my
background
in
golf
has
been
helpful
to
many
students.”
Calbot
has
worked
with
all
ages
and
abilities;
he’s
guided
golfers
toward
such
goals
as
shooting
their
ages
or
making
it
on
the
PGA
and
LPGA
Tour.
He’s
also
had
a
few
multi-Tour
winners. “People
can
expect
an
honest
lesson
from
me,”
says
Calbot.
“I
provide
unique
video
application
and
always
try
to
be
articulate,
logical
and
of
course,
fun.”
Past
students
have
told
Calbot
that
his
lessons
are
different
from
most
lessons
they’ve
taken,
and
Calbot’s
straightforward
approach
is
a
refreshing
change.
A
firm
believer
in
hard
work,
Calbot
recommends
players
of
all
levels
get
the
proper
training,
work
hard
enough
to
succeed
and
make
it
a
point
to
play
with
better
players. When
it
comes
to
his
own
game,
Calbot’s
confidence
is
high
in
bunkers
and
wedge
play,
though
he
seldom
has
an
opportunity
to
practice.
Any
shot
that
goes
in
the
hole
is
a
favorite
of
Calbot’s,
but
he
also
enjoys
performing
any
one
of
the
79
trick
shots
he
uses
in
his
Golf
Trick
Shot
Exhibitions.
The
most
challenging
shot
he
remembers
was
his
last
putt
to
get
his
first
win.
Calbot
adds
that
whenever
things
get
rocky
during
a
round,
he’ll
simply
tell
himself
it
will
end
soon
enough,
and
it
can
be
fixed
tomorrow. “Clients with problems motivate me,” says Calbot, who is continually inspired to teach others the game he’s been playing since he was eight. Calbot solves those problems on the lesson tee at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club in Miromar, Florida. Whenever
Calbot
watches
an
event,
he
tends
to
keep
an
eye
on
the
leaders,
no
matter
who
they
are.
His
favorite
course
to
play
is
Augusta
National,
but
if
he
had
to
travel
to
play
golf,
you’d
find
him
heading
for
Europe.
He’d
be
wearing
clothes
provided
by
his
sponsors
and
carrying
no
lucky
charms
–
Calbot
relies
on
pure
skill
and
experience
to
get
him
through
a
round. Born
in
Philadelphia
in
a
year
that
shall
remain
a
secret,
Calbot
